Friday update: Details sent - one email covering both days. Email me FRi night if not received. Both days are ‘on‘. Water level looking great for this weekend. Tougher than the usual class 2 trips. A lot of fun. Pool drop. Moving flat water and great rapids. Put in: a couple of miles upstream from confluence of Lake Creek. Take out: 1 mile below Tide. This run has harder 2s. Pool drop and slow sections between major rapids. Great run. About as fun as Packsaddle, but somewhat easier. Scheduling a double run for Sat/Sun can camp and do both or just choose one day.

Class 2, 5 miles with some wood. Just below the put in is a short class 2 drop followed by a river wide log. Because of thick bank underbrush an out of boat over the log portage is required. Put in is at Harris Bridge and take out is US 20 Bridge.

Details sent out for both days. Email me Fri night if you did not get the email. Same run as the Siuslaw on Sat, the day before. See that one for added info. Running the Siuslaw on both Saturday and Sunday. Same put in and take out. Coastal rivers, smaller rivers with little snowpack and creeks usually start drying up by mid April, so get it while you can.

Fri eve update: Only a little drizzle happened Thurs night, so it is still going down, but very slowly. Should be OK to do main run or can do lower starting at milepost 12 is water is too low. So we look good. We can check indicator rock out there and make a call. Done before at 600 and we had plenty of water, so it can go down lower than that and still be good. This run is good down to 600 cfs, maybe slightly lower. Very pool drop. Lots of short rapids with calm water in between. 6 to 8 miles.

April 20: Registration is now open for Earth Day Willamette River Cleanups. 8 cleanups are planned along the Willamette River in the Eugene/Springfield area. WKCC is supporting the on-water cleanup in Springfield from Clearwater Park to Aspen/West D Street boat ramp. Bring your own boat, must have the skill set to maneuver in class 2 rapids. About 5.5 miles of the Mary‘s River near Avery Park to its confluence with the Willamette River. No one paddles this section due to a lack of access. I scouted and found a public spot to get on the river near Country Club Hill. Expect wood. At the present low flow wood is manageable. You will need a maneuverable boat and should have cold weather attire. Launch is steep & primitive. There was a spot in the river bank where a mud spout from the Cascadia Subduction is exposed, you can only see this feature from the river even though there is a frequently travel path above. 7 mile run. Evenly spaced class 2 rapids with calm water in between. Salmonberry drop (class 3) should be pretty easy at a lower water level. This is a lower water level, so should be a fairly easy run. We can run it at lower than what SS says. Scouted it Saturday (4/13) and it can still lose some more water.
